A little confidence...

...goes a long way. Last fall, Grace loved soccer. She was constantly kicking her ball around the house and loved Sat. games and practices. In the spring...she lost her love. The weather was cold and cruddy and she hadn't scored a goal yet and had troubles keeping up with the other girls which left her sad at the end of each game. It was a great time for her to learn about team spirit though. Even though we could tell she was sad for herself she made lots of comments cheering on her teammates and bragging about how well their team played or how her friends had scored a goal. To me...this is far more important than her scoring goals. We debated putting her back in soccer, but she begged to do it again and said she had so much fun playing that we tried it another year. I'm so glad we did. She had a blast at the game on Saturday and scored her first goal of the season! She was so excited...what a difference a year makes! That one goal was the confidence boost that she needed because she had so much fun and stayed at the front of the pack most of the game. I'm hopeful that this is the start of the best of both worlds...being a team player and knowing that every once in a while she'll get her time to shine.

Our #33 taking it to the goal...

Her first goal...adreneline at its finest...she ran so hard!

Stealing the ball from the blue team.

She's not the fastest, but she is getting smarter at how to work the field.

Smiles all around...she had a great time.
