Day 2

I figured I would continue my 30 days of thanks on my blog this year. I liked reading through my past "30 days" lists, and thought it might be easier to just type it up here. So, today I am thankful for sisters. Growing up, (my mom will remind me) I was awful to them. My youngest sister and I fought all the time, and my older sister and I *possibly* would have had a great relationship if not for the fact that I always sided with my brother and against her since, let's be honest, if I didn't I was afraid he would beat the crap out of me as brothers tend to do. I'll discuss my love for him in a later post! :)
My youngest sister is the life of the party and is a reminder of how to have fun. She inspires me with her indepedence and ability to work hard for what she wants. She is extremely caring and compassionate and I admire her ablity to tell it how it is. She does not shy away from saying what she thinks and I find that to be one of my favorite things about her because she does it in a way that does not offend or hurt. She loves my children unconditionally, and will put them in their place when they need it...I love it. If she ever decided to be a mom she would be awesome at it...just like everything else that she does. Everything she touches becomes better.
My older sister is the motherly type. She takes care of everyone and everything. She is the first person I call when I need a listening ear and she provides sound advice without being judgemental. She puts everyone else's needs ahead of her own and though I give her a hard time for keeping me on the phone for 2 hours at a time, I believe I am more guilty than she is. Yesterday, we road-tripped to Des Moines to visit my cousin and see her beautiful new baby. Some would say it is crazy to drive 5 hours round trip to visit for only 1 hour, but driving with my sister made the trip seem like minutes. The conversation is never dull, we can discuss everything and we can count on each other for anything. Though I don't get to see my sisters nearly as often as I would like, these 2 women are the most amazing people, and because they have blessed my life I am thankful for them.

Apparently I need to only read your blog at home....(so I don't tear up at work!) This completely makes up for all the fights and bruises, sorry for being a pain in the butt:)

You said it in the end, I wish we could all see each other more. I am thankful everyday for you and your amazing family, miss you so much!
