A depressing demo

This afternoon I paid my parents a visit to walk through the house that I grew up in for the last time. It is officially being torn down to make room for the next addition of their new house, and though it has been sitting empty for a while now, it was somehow very different seeing it being torn down. I have a bad memory so a lot of the nostalgia that most would feel for a place is lost on me, so I was surprised by the amount of memories conjured up as I walked through it one last time. {Once our basement is finished (and I can unstack everything in our storage area) I hope to recover some old photos of my old house in all its glory to share}...until then, I'll celebrate its final days.

The living room, kitchen, laundry room, bathroom and office have already been removed, it was a previous addition, so what is left standing is the original house....basically four rooms and a stairwell. A stairwell where this girl spent many an afternoon pouting in time out.

My old bedroom looking at what used to be the most awesome walk-in closet. It was absolutely huge and had no light so I was terrified of the things that I thought were hiding in there.

Top left corner of the old house, my dad is working on getting the rest of the roof to come down and attempt to "detach" it from the new house without damaging anything.

Taking down the roof section by section.

Siding down, roof almost gone. It doesn't seem possible that this is even the same house.
