Kony 2012 seems to be hitting the media like crazy these days. I'm not online often but already I have seen it hit Facebook, blogs, and my daily dose of news from the Huffington Post and apparently it is blowing up twitter. Perhaps one of these days I will jump on that bandwagon, but not today.
It is reasons like this that I love teaching high school foreign language...and days like today that I wish I were there discussing with my students that "where you live, shouldn't determine if you live." Students are so motivated to right the wrong-doings in the world and it is motivating and inspiring to watch them in action. They truly believe that we can change the world. I saw it when we returned from Guatemala with the surge of students that felt empowered to make a difference in the lives of the families that we met there, and it is awesome to see it again on a much larger scale with Kony 2012. Even if it is one tweet at a time.

i've been using twitter for school and i really like it. i can retweet interesting history facts, remind them of homework and important dates coming up, and i throw in personal stuff every now and then to keep a connection with the kids.
