Breaking up is hard to do...

I told myself as soon as I hit 100 miles I would buy myself some new running shoes.  I have really liked my Asics, so I was in no hurry to replace them. Though they are extremely ugly, and should have been retired about 3 years ago, they are comfortable and we have our history. Yesterday, I decided it was time for a divorce. I have attempted to train for 3 half marathons in my Asics...none of which came to fruition as each time I started training, I ended up pregnant. Not this time! I have found the joy in running again, and am back to the point where hitting the pavement has become my quiet time to think and breathe. So, my Asics and I are breaking up.
After a few hours with my running guru at Running Wild, I test drove 5 different brands of shoes...New Balance, Saucony, Adidas, Asics, and Nike. I haven't liked Nike for running in the past, so I was really leaning toward the Saucony (they were cuter anyhow), but in the end the higher arches in the Nike won out.
Hopefully these shoes will cushion the pavement for many miles to come. Goodbye sweet Asics, it's been a good run.

Congratulations on 100 miles! You have SO MUCH to be proud of! I can't wait for you to cross the finish line in May after 13.1! ROCKSTAR! Any luck with the hip soreness?
