School Daze

With the end of the first quarter, school has been crazy busy. As much as I feel like I can barely catch my breath lately, I also feel really lucky to teach where I do. My classes have kept me busy as I am encouraging my students more than ever to get out into the community and give back. This past week was crazy trying to get out to the elementary schools for America Reads, overseeing the Spanish Club afterschool at St. Matts, and volunteering to do daycare while parents attend English as a Second Language classes. I truly have amazing students and after another successful round of Parent/Teacher conferences I can say they are supported by some amazing parents. It truly takes a village to raise a well-rounded, kind, understanding child and I can only pray that mine turn out as great as some of the students I am blessed to have this year in class. As an added bonus of working late hours at school, I got out early Friday allowing me enough time to submit my syllabus to the college board (it has been hanging over my head way too long) and get over to Grace's school to participate in her "Steps for Tech" walk. I feel so lucky that my job allows me the freedom to not miss out on all the fun things that they are doing at her school.

A definite perk to running Spanish Club at St. Matts...Grace gets to attend all the sessions!

Umm...did I mention how awesome my students are? This gem was delivered to me as a "happy third day of conferences" treat from one of my students. Banana split cupcakes = yummy.

Thank YOU for encouraging our students to give back within our community. Lots of behind the scenes work went on for those sessions, I know. You rock!
