As the school year quickly approaches (next week is my last full week with the girls already...BOO) I started to lament the fact that my hours with the girls are numbered. I wanted a day just the four of us to do something special. As we discovered at Disney, magic is made by the people, not the place, so each of us took turns choosing what we wanted to do together for our special "girls day out." Emma got to pick first. She chose Despicable Me in 3D. They LOVE 3D movies so this was a huge treat. And...as part of the free summer series, my wallet appreciated it as well! A visit with Sparkles the Clown, some balloon animals, and cuddled up watching a fun movie was just the way to start our day. After the movie, Grace got to choose lunch. Walking out of the theater, she chose the first thing she saw...Burger King. With an attached play place, it was a blast for the girls and having scored free burgers and fries through Summer Reading at the Library, I once again, got off for free. Norah was up next. She chose the park...typical. It is hard to find Merry-go-rounds anymore (safety issue, you know) so our favorite place is Donnelly Park. Not far from home and all the old-school playground equipment that the girls love. We had a blast just playing and enjoying having the whole park to ourselves. At this point, I couldn't believe we had spent an entire day out having fun and had spent less than $5. So my choice...a trip to the ice cream shop. It was such a great day just the 4 of us. It didn't help me feel any more ready to go back to work, but at least I know we are spending what little time we have left wisely. After we got home we invited all of our friends up for a sprinkler party and then after dinner Emma and I had our own little date at Brucemore. I couldn't have asked for a better day with my ladies!
