So many projects, so little time. The list of things I wish I had time to do just keeps growing, so I decided to start slow. The pantry has been bugging me for a while since it is also where we drop our backpacks, coats, shoes, etc and with school starting I wanted to have an organized place to catch all of our after school shrapnel. It was a top of the priority list for me since that is the one area that causes the most stress when we come into the house since it is a small space and everyone is tired and cranky from a long day.
Some shoe bins, hooks and a bench later, we now have an area that the girls can hang their own coats and bags (before the hangers were too high) and have a bin for shoes so they don't just get thrown on the shelf. Having a bench to sit on also offers a place for the girls to sit so they are out of the way of the door while they take off their shoes. It seems silly that one little project can diffuse so much chaos, but it was top of the priority list for me.
Our dining room chairs were next on the list. What was I thinking buying upholstered chairs with young children? EVERYTHING stains them. I have cleaned them with everything imaginable and nothing will remove the stains. Even water stains them, so with 3 kiddos there is no use assuming that they will ever be clean.

Before...hello disgusting chair of stains.
After.
I used marine fabric (the type of leather used on boat seats) so it is soft, pliable and most importantly...WASHABLE! No more filthy chairs! I'm not finished with all of them yet, but as I get the hang of it, I am getting faster.
Up next...counter over the top of the washer/dryer?

My chairs are the same way. I think he ground up cornbread and chili into them lady night.... It's real gross.
I LOVE the idea of a counter over w/d. Everything falls between the cracks...it would just look so nice and clean to have that shelf!!
Thanks for posting earlier than thanksgiving!!! ;-)
