I'm back on the reading bandwagon. With a 30 minute reading rule in our house, and all these no school days, I have actually found a little time to free read. I started with a classic, "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" by Ken Kesey. I honestly had no idea how the book would end, but kept wondering how this classic had escaped me all these years. It made me want to visit any institution possible and befriend everyone I could find.
After Cuckoo, I figured I would change directions and read something a little more light-hearted, but then I found myself at B&N taking advantage of their Educator Appreciation Week discounts and ended up with the book "Wonder," by R.J. Palacio. A little early Valentine's present for my special someone...age 7. Of course, I figured I better preview it first. I read this book in a weekend, which is unheard of for me (ok, I realize it was in the children's section...don't judge). Call me a nerd, but I am so excited to discuss this book with Grace as she reads it. With our age difference I know she will have a unique perspective on this book. I cannot express how much I love that my girls enjoy reading. My own little book club, right at home! She is in the middle of "Trumpet of the Swan" right now, so I am eagerly awaiting Valentines Day when I can get her started on this one! If you haven't read this book, it is great for any age. It is a great reminder of the power of kindness.
