Market to Market
This weekend is it! I have been trying for a few months to prepare for the 80 mile relay between Omaha and Lincoln, and the weekend is quickly approaching. Though I haven't gotten as many miles in as I would have liked, (I'm feeling pretty ill-prepared), I am looking forward to a weekend of fun. This time around I tried to keep running low-key, and find some running buddies to make it more enjoyable. My foot pain has gotten to where it only really hurts on the hills, so the flats have been able to give it a little break. I have done my long runs on the weekend, mostly on the CV trail. On Sunday mornings a few friends from St. Matt's run together there, so it was fun to get to chat away some miles with them. Thursdays after school I hit the trail close by with our schools running club. It is about 5 miles of crushed limestone so it was the perfect way to get a few miles in before picking up the girls. Not to mention, running with students is great way to get to know more about them outside of school. M,W,F are my early runs. I hit the gym at 4:30 and get a few miles in on the treadmill before the craziness of the day starts. Though I don't enjoy waking up so early, it is a great way to start the day and since I'm on the treadmill, I also get to watch the news, which only happens at the gym. After a relaxing 5.7 miles downtown Saturday morning with some teacher friends, and a nice long run Sunday afternoon with Mark and the girls (really pushed me to go faster since they were on their bikes) I am feeling good about the weekend. Though I don't have the miles in that I probably should, I am convinced this weekend will be a blast!
