Growing up

While Mark and the girls were at camp-out, Norah and I were left to have our own little "girls weekend." It was so fun to spoil her a bit and give her my full attention for a few days. Norah has been in baby-mode lately and this weekend she was determined to knock out a few 'big-sister' activities that she thought she would need to know before the baby gets here. First on her list...learning to pump her own swing. In her own determined way, with just a few pointers, she figured it out within minutes and spent the next hour perfecting the callouses on her hands. I finally convinced her to walk up to the park and swing on different swings for a bit so the blisters on her hands could heal from the frayed ropes on our swingset. After another hour at the park, it was time to move on to goal #2...removing the training wheels on her bike. At only 4, I thought this was a lofty goal, but she was convinced this was something she needed to do. An hour later, she was cruising up and down the sidewalk like a pro. After all the effort, we decided we had worked up an appetite and headed to the ice cream shop for a celebratory treat. After a yummy dinner, treat, and busy day, we had a little sleepover of our own since the house was quiet and stayed up late chatting. Conversations with a 4-year-old are some of my favorites. Norah is so determined to keep up with her big sisters. She will make an awesome big sister herself. I can't believe how quickly she is growing up, but her excitement for learning, heading off to kindergarten and becoming a big sister are contagious.
