Ear piercing

The girls have been hoping to get their ears pierced for quite some time. We set a kind of soft rule that 10 years old sounded like a good age to do it. On her birthday, Grace decided that she wanted them pierced. However, between soccer in the spring and fall, and basketball in the winter and summer, finding a time when she wouldn't have to remove them for sports proved quite difficult. She went back and forth in bravery until Emma decided that she really wanted hers done too. Once Emma was on board, Grace had to prove her courage and was adamant that she wanted them done the next time she had a little break from sports. Basketball ended on Monday and we have 3 weeks until soccer starts up. Time to get brave!

Emma goes "all in" on everything she does. No surprise she jumped in the chair to go first. She sat nice and still and very calmly said, "ouch" with her first ear, and then hopped out of the chair after her second ear with a huge smile on her face.

Overjoyed that the pain wasn't as bad as she thought and her new earrings were even more sparkly than she imagined!

Grace had it rough having to wait until second and let her anxiety build. She nervously hopped in the chair, determined to show her sister up in bravery, but unable to hold back her nervous excitement.

She also did a great job. No tears, just a little wince of pain and then pure joy that she finally had her ears pierced.
