It was Grace's year to choose the theme for Halloween and I couldn't have loved her choice of "Inside Out" characters more. Given that we didn't know what to expect with Will, we started planning early so that if Will was still in the hospital we would be prepared. So in August the girls started picking their costumes. Grace got to choose first and of course choice Disgust, as she loves this little fashionista with lots of attitude. Emma chose next and was overjoyed to be Sadness. Though she is hardly ever seen without a huge smile on her face, she thinks that the character of Sadness has some of the most hilarious lines in the movie, and if you know Emma, you know she is quite the comedian. Norah was bummed that she was third to choose as she really wanted to by Joy and considering she is the main character, she really thought the other girls were going to pick her first so, needless to say, when she realized she could dress up as Joy, she was full of joy! We pulled Will's costume together last minute (duct tape saves the day again...who knew you could make a vest out of duct tape) since we didn't know if Halloween would be in the cards for him, but he tolerated our dressing him up well and made the cutest little Fear. Stay tuned as the girls are pretty sure Mark should be Anger and Hazel should be Bing-bong. If you haven't seen the movie "Inside Out" it is adorable and one we would highly recommend to anyone!
Friday night we headed to Mark's work to trick or treat cubical to cubical in our costumes. The girls loved getting all dressed up and were even more excited that Will got to participate. We didn't figure he would be able to go out for trick-or-treat, so this was the perfect way to take him trick-or-treating, without pushing him too hard. Though Mark has been in his current building for 5 years, due to security clearances and such, we have never been inside to see where he works, so it was a really fun opportunity to see where he is all day. The kids got spoiled rotten and came home with a box full of treats.
