The girls love going to Future Saints nights at my school each season. We missed the fall sports season as it was the week that Will was born, so they definitely didn't want to miss out on getting to meet the players at the winter sports night. Third time is a charm as the night had to be rescheduled a few times due to icy weather. Though we had a packed night with the sock hop and honor choir, we made the varsity game by half time, just in time for Mark to introduce Emma's basketball team and Grace to get introduced on hers. After the game, they stuck around to talk to their favorite players (oh how they look up to these girls) and were thrilled to get a poster of the team that all of the girls had signed.
They did team introduction at half time so Mark's (Emma's) team was announced. Apparently Emma is a little too comfortable being at my school as when the announcer missed announcing her name, she stepped forward, waved and shouted her name to the crowd. I LOVE this girls' spirit! So proud of her self confidence and fun-loving humor. (Check out the little poodle skirt hiding in the back as well. Somebody wanted a few minutes of fame like her sisters).
Grace's team was also introduced. Watching these girls get introduced as one of the few non-club teams was heartwarming. As enticing as it is to play club ball, we have been hesitant to take that leap as it is (ridiculously) expensive and requires more travel than necessary in my humble opinion. Last night once again confirmed my desire to avoid club sports a little longer when I watched our girls with their arms wrapped around each other bonding in a way that no other team out their did. When Grace showed up to the game a bit late since she was singing, the whole team rushed into the bathroom to encourage her to hurry as the introductions were about to start. I love that they support each other and look out for each other.
