Date days

The girls are always lumped as "the girls." They rarely get identifiers and when they do it is usually either "the bigs" or "the littles." Lucky for Emma, as a middle, she gets lumped into multiple categories.
They are all three extremely different when it comes to interests, personalities, and needs,  so we try really hard at least once or twice a year to make sure we get some one-on-one time with them where they feel like they have our undivided attention with no strings attached. We can go where they want, do what they want, and ask for what they want without having to take into consideration what is best for 'everyone.' We have tried to do this over the summer so they can each get a day with both of us, but that hasn't proved to be realistic. So, over Christmas break while both of us are home I decided to take day dates with the girls.
I let each girl pick what she wanted to do and got to spend a little quiet time with each of them. Norah was first. She chose AirFX, which was fantastic considering that she is only 6 and still qualifies as a jr. jumper. For $5, she and I got to jump our hearts out. It was fun getting her all to myself and seeing her personality shine not being in anyone else's footsteps. You could tell she felt so special getting to do something that the other girls didn't get to. After a fun little jump (and some great cardio...woof!) we headed to Karma Coffee for a little hot chocolate and delicious apple cinnamon muffin to replenish the carbs we burned. This place is so cute. We sat and colored and snacked without a care in the world. It was truly such a gift for the both of us.

For Emma's date she wasted no time in deciding what she wanted to do together. She already knew. We braved the snow and headed to The Potters Obsession to paint pottery and catch up on life. The last time we went to TPO we both painted pieces and decided it was a pretty big job for an afternoon if we wanted to do it right. This time, we were smart and selected a piece we could both work on together.

Our selfie game is not strong.

Grace chose to jump for her date day as well. Back to AirFX we went. She had a few friends there that day as well and I was so impressed how she included me with her friends and we were able to jump and spend the morning together. She's a bit harder to keep up with than Norah, so I definitely got a good work out in. These dates with the girls were such an incredible way to spend time with them individually and remind them that though they often have to share our attention and do what is best for the group, they matter as individuals and we love spending time with them one-on-one. They've all requested that we make this a monthly habit.
