Thursday Grace celebrated her golden birthday, turning 12 on the 12th. She has been lobbying for an iPod for the past few weeks and presenting us with some fantastic pro/con lists and responsibility flow charts as to why she is old enough to have one. I'm not sold on the idea, but we decided that she gives us so few reasons not to trust her, that we'd give it a whirl.
We wrapped the iPod at the bottom of a gift bag and put a new gold drinking cup on top of it. Another reason I was happy we gifted her an iPod, as soon as she opened her cup, she didn't act a bit disappointed by not receiving what she most wanted. She thanked us for the cup and was genuinely content knowing she didn't get what she asked for.
She was just getting ready to fold up the bag when we told her to keep digging. She was so surprised to find an iPod at the bottom as she had given up hope that we would succumb to her desires. She truly is a grateful kid and I'm glad that we were able to gift her with what she most wanted.
