Day 3

As 30 days of thanks continues today I am thankful for good schools and teachers. Though we chose to put our girls through Catholic school, I think almost every school in this area offers great education for children. Today we attended conferences for both girls and I was pleased to see how well their teachers knew them. They were not just another student and we were not just their parents. Their teachers have taken the time to get to know the girls and what makes them unique. They asked questions that would help them better understand the girls and took an interest in our family as a whole. They showered us with compliments, but did not shy away from improvements. Our main focus with the girls has been to be a good person first and a good student second. I was pleased to see that their teachers appreciated this. Emma's teacher discussed at length what a great leader and listener Emma was and how empathetic she was to the needs and feelings of others. This put my mind at ease as Emma has never really been the conservative rule follower. Grace's teachers talked about how they could rely on her to be a leader and her wonderful participation in activities. This, again, made me happy as Grace likes to follow the crowd and usually won't volunteer for anything. I am so pleased she has made such great friends and feels comfortable stepping up to a challenge. No doubt my girls like school because they know how much the people there care about them and for that I am extremely thankful.
