Our painting days are almost behind us! We painted our last piece of trim and casing for the basment today so we should be down to just a few touch ups and the door frames and our painting days are over!
This weekend we are starting on the finish work (hang the trim, sills, doors, closets, etc.) Spending a few months cycling through the sanding and priming process on the built ins and doors was incredibly tedious and left us feeling exhausted. Each night we would go downstairs to sand or prime only to go back the next night to sand it again and prime it again. Add that to multiple top coats and it felt like we were working so hard, yet seeing no progress. (The built ins are all white, so painting white on top of white for multiple primer/top coats got rather monotonous). Thankfully, the last 2 weeks we have been painting ceilings and walls. Being able to see our progress (and add some color) has been so much more rewarding. Each night that we go downstairs to work we are reminded of the progress we made the night before and it motivates us to work faster. Things are really starting to come together, we can't wait to see how it looks once we get the trim up. Then...carpet! After a years worth of free time spent in the basement can the end really be in sight?
