Party time!

Saturday we celebrated Emma's birthday with family and friends. She assures us that 4 year olds are much more fun than 3 year olds but the only thing I have noticed is that they are, perhaps, sassier. Can that even be possible? Emma has been so excited to turn 4 so she was bouncing off the walls with excitement at her party.
She really wanted a "Despicable Me" birthday party. Since there is no merchandise to be found we had to make due with whatever we could create. Her minion birthday candles took forever to make and it was my first time making fondant so here are a few things that I learned.

1. Don't ask your child what kind of party they would like...tell them their options.
2. Don't wait til the day of the party to decorate the cake.
3. No matter how hard you aim to please, someone won't be pleased.
4. The baby will cry the instant you're up to your elbows in gooey marshmallow fondant.
5. Don't put said fondant in the freezer...you will have to start all over.

With 4 years of wisdom comes responsibility. We welcomed Tiny Dancer into our family on Saturday. He is a spunky beta fish with a huge appetite. Emma was thrilled with her new birthday friend. With a shelf life of about 10 days, and a price tag of about $10, so was I.
Chef Emma also loved her new apron and chef hat. Now she'll be baking in style.
Making her birthday wish. She loved her minion cupcakes and cake which made all the party prep worth it. Happy birthday to my favorite 4 year old!
