Day 3 was all about the SCUBA!
We headed out Friday morning to give scuba diving a try. Since we were just off what is considered to be the second greatest reef in the entire world, we figured this would be our chance to try it out.

All the tanks ready for our first lesson in the pool. I'm not much for open water or enclosed spaces so I knew that scuba diving might be a bit overwhelming for me. It was an experience entirely out of my comfort zone and we had to remove/replace our regulators, remove/replace our masks, and assist a buddy with supplemental air all while we were under water in order to pass the class. Thankfully, we passed and it was out to the open water.
The man sitting next to us was a Scottish guy who was out on his 60th dive! He said it was one of the most incredible dives he has done, so our dive must have been pretty great in comparison. The boatride out was pretty choppy so once we reached our dive point, we were excited to hit the water and get off the boat! It was nerve-racking bobbing in open water...but even moreso as we decended to the bottom having to stop and equalize every few feet. I had to convince myself a few times to not have a panic attack on the bottom of the Carribbean because it would take too long to reach the surface! Once I hit the bottom and caught my bearings things were pretty amazing. We saw some great coral, tons of fish and some HUGE stingrays!
When we got back from the dive we were welcomed back by our newly decorated room! We thought is was odd decor for an anniversary, but then we spotted some chocolate cake on the table and realized the decorations were quite fitting!
That night we headed out for dinner under the stars. The food was amazing...ceviche, red snapper, octopus...delish! Mark decided perhaps he didn't know my favorites as well as he thought!
The mariachi band was awesome and our table was full of tons of fun people which made the night a blast.
