Mexico: Day 6

Monday we headed out early to start on our 3 hour drive to Chichen Itza. Last time we were in Mexico we really wanted to see the ruins, but didn't make it so this time we decided we weren't going to let that happen again. We were so glad we didn't! This trip may have been the highlight of our trip. It was phenomenal!

We learned so much about the Mayans and there is no question as to why this is one of the new 7 wonders of the world. We were in awe of the intellect of the Mayans and were so glad we got to experience this trip.

Kukulkan pyramid...absolutely amazing.

The markets.

Backside of the pyramid where people came and took lots of the stones out to build their own homes before the pyramid was protected.

After a hot trip to the ruins, we stopped of at a cenote for a swim. There are no rivers in the Yucatan so these underground rivers and holes are a refreshing and beautiful find.

At 120 feet deep it was a great place to jump in and cool down. Mark...all set to jump in!

It was unreal swimming in such a beautiful spot looking up at all of the roots hanging down over your head.

An absolutely amazing end to an awesome day!

We headed back "home" for another incredible dinner and took in another great show...it was probably my most favorite day of the trip.

awesome! awesome! awesome!!!!! we went to hawaii for our honeymoon- never made it to pearl harbor :( i suppose we were lucky enough we got to hawaii- couldn't spend any more money on side trips!! there is so much more we want to do if we ever get back- 10 year trip would be awesome, you know a little more about the area, have more time to save to do special things- and know to milk the "anniversary" specials!!

seriously glad you guys had this trip! we admire you two so much- very cool that this gave an already solid couple an extra boost!

cheers to many, many more years!!!
