Honey Creek

This weekend the weather was too beautiful to pass up a trip to the apple orchard. Each year we head to Swisher to Honey Creek Acres to pick our apples. If you haven't been there, it's a must see. Everything is free...picking, games, music, hayrides, samples, etc., and the staff is amazing! We were expecting slim pickings since Iowa State estimated they lost 90% of their crop from the hard frost, but there were apples-a-plenty on Saturday. We were a little early for pumpkins this year, so we may just have to venture out there again soon!

Norah was excited for her first year being big enough to walk the orchard.

Excited to be in charge of the apple picker.

Our proud bucket carrier.

Emma snagged the first apple...it was perfect!

Grace's best looking apple.

She liked going for the really high ones.

Norah must have walked about a mile...all with a smile.

Playing on the haymound...the view from the top is incredible.

Goofballs...

The girls were excited for the hayride around the orchard...and to check out the beehives. Grace thought it was awesome that the beehives stay 98 degrees even on the coldest night of the winter!

Once we got home, we of course had to make apple pie. Grace has perfected her apple peeling.

Emma made quick friends with Daisy who LOVES apple peels!
