Mardi Gras

Saturday night we went out for an adult evening at Mardi Gras! Okay, so it was a church fundraiser, but still way more fun than your average church event. I have to say, so far I am doing well at honoring my New Years Resolution to say yes to going to events, even when it means going without the girls. Mark and I headed to church before the event and it seemed so weird to find ourselves sitting there without kids. Although I enjoyed actually hearing mass instead of merely listening between the shushing of children, I can't say that I have any plans of attending mass without the girls again. Mass is definitely something I enjoy doing as a family.

Afterwards we headed out for a pre-cocktail before Mardi Gras started and discovered that, even though we were first-timers, we were rolling with the crowd of regulars. It was fun to see all the St. Matt's crowd preparing for a night of fun. At 7 it was off to the party. The food was delicious, the crowd was record-breaking, and the company was wonderful. It was fun to spend the evening meeting parents of my students, parents of the girls' friends, getting to know their teachers better, and spending time with my co-workers and friends. It was an awesome community builder, and a lot of fun.
