Girls Weekend

Last weekend I had the opportunity to sneak away for 36 hours to DM with some college friends. The 2 hour car ride alone brought bliss. I didn't realize how much a schedule dictates my life until I set foot in a car where I didn't have to worry about snacks, toys, or the nearest rest stop. It was a weekend without a schedule, without a plan, and without a care...not typical to the OCD neuroticism that I usually function in. The conversation was needed, the beverages were abundant and the relaxation was appreciated. I returned feeling refreshed and missing my family. Though 2 of the 3 girls I went with live within a 10 minute drive, I don't see them often enough and it was great to catch up with all of them and give them my undivided attention. Plus, the old adage is right, absence truly does make the heart grow fonder. Even if it was only a night away it was a great reminder of how much I miss my girls when I'm not with them and how lucky I am to have a husband who makes a weekend of single parenting look effortless.
