I know the consensus is that teachers only work 9 months of the year, but I'll have you know...we work a smidge more. I'll be honest, when I thought of becoming a teacher the summer off was a huge bonus. (I have yet to experience a summer off by the way...grad school then children...I should have planned that better!) However, sometimes duty calls. This summer has been spent busily preparing for what I think may be my hardest school year yet. I'll be honest, last year was... to say the least...rough. But, I'm mentally preparing as I feel as though this year may be harder. This summer I have been trying to increase knowledge of technology. My school is beginning a 1:1 initiative this fall and I am hoping I can make this leap with grace. I attended sessions at iPadU for the past year and this summer I presented what I learned. I am excited for all of the changes in education lately as I feel like we are exploring something that will truly improve student learning instead of going through the motions of the next buzzword or fad. Fingers crossed for a successful leap into 21st century learning, it is going to be a rocky climb...but the summit awaits.
These ladies are paving the way for me. Fellow presenters that are far more in-tune to technology!
