So I have officially been a member of the gym for a month. I have adapted to my 4:30AM wake-up call, and a gym membership has really helped me stick to a weekly routine. There is something easier about getting out the door than there is getting to the basement. I feel more accountable having to go somewhere, and I also know that if I don't go at my designated time, than there will be no other time in the day to get it in. When I worked out at home, I lived in this fantasy world that I could always "do it later." Funny...there really are only 24 hours in a day.
I run about 15-18 miles a week and have had a great time checking out different classes. I liked spin class, but, crazy as it sounds, I didn't get the workout I was hoping for. The only thing sore when I was done was my butt...and I'm not talking the muscles. Zumba was a lot of fun and I worked up a good sweat as I channeled my inner Shakira with a bunch of other rhythmically challenged women. I am excited about possibly getting a pool workout in and I see a little kickboxing in my future as well. Even with my treadmill up and running again, I really like the gym. If nothing else, I get my daily dose of news for the day. Who knew the highlight of the gym would be getting to watch TV!? I leave feeling knowledgeable of the world, healthy and relaxed. That makes it worth every penny! I may even have a -gulp- marathon on my radar.
