The last Sunday in November each year we celebrate with my dad's family. Being the youngest of 12, it is quite the celebration. Since there are so many of us at these gatherings, my sisters and I decided to have a little fun and organize all of the children, grandchildren, and greats in order and see how our family is evolving. We also put together a little quiz for everyone to take to see just how well they know our family. A lot of the aunts brought pictures from when they were growing up and it was so great to listen to some of their stories about how they bathed youngest to oldest in the same bathwater, the first time they got running water in the house, and stories of when grandma and grandpa got married. Here are a few fun facts from what we learned by "organizing" the family.
Grandma and Grandpa had 12 children, 10 of which are still living. There are 52 grandchildren. There are 117 great grandchildren. My dad was an uncle before he was born. From the time my oldest aunt had her first and last grand baby, there were 97 grandchildren born in between. There have only been 4 years since 1975 that there hasn't been at least one child born into our family. There are only 4 names that have been repeated (Aiden, Caiden, Ethan, and Emily.) Now you understand why naming children in our family gets difficult...there is a lot to take into consideration! :)
