GOTR
Girls on the Run is back! We just started up the third season for GOTR and though I was working really hard to be able to say "No" to taking on more responsibility, it just wasn't in the cards. I tried to find another coach to serve as head and step back to just being assistant (not only because it's a huge time commitment, but also because Grace is participating this year) but no one else could make the time commitment work. It was either act as head coach, or not have a program. It has had such phenomenal feedback from girls, parents and teachers that I couldn't let it go. Plus, I really wanted Grace to be able to participate. Though it is early in the season, I am seeing how it was meant to be. The girls this season are phenomenal and far less demanding than the last group of girls that went through. It is fun to see how quickly they are coming together, forging new friendships and learning how a positive attitude can spread quickly. I am sure as the season progresses this "honeymoon" stage will start to wane, but I am convinced that I made the right choice in committing to GOTR one more year. From Grace's perspective, she is having fun, discovered she really does like to run, and has been a lot more intentional in the decisions that she has made lately. With Mark as her running buddy, I am excited that we both get to highlight to her the importance of volunteering, and how much a little bit of your time and effort can impact someone else.
