City Museum

When we arrived in St. Louis we headed straight for City Museum! This place is either genius or insane…I still can’t decide. The museum is basically an old warehouse where they have recycled items from the city into one big playground. The majority of what we were climbing seemed to be rebar, but there were old conveyor belts, metal scraps, old gym floors…anything that can be welded or screwed together. It is awesome, because you never know where you are going to end up. You go down a slide that might pop straight up out of the floor. You might go under the whales belly and come out a few rooms over in the caves. There is even a 10 story slide! There is a little bit of everything at City Museum, for all ages.
Though this was definitely at the top of the awesome list for the girls…it wasn’t my favorite. There were a few spots where I physically thought I would get stuck if I went in, and once you get in, there were some spots where you couldn’t go backwards and just come out the way you went in. Grace went down a slide that popped out of the tiniest little hole, and said there was a man down there that got down fine, but couldn’t fit up the hole to get back out! Plus, they serve alcohol, which I’m not against, but I definitely could have done without the buzzed woman standing outside of the ladies room swearing at Emma to hurry up because she needed to take a $*!t. The girls loved City Museum, but had Norah been even a little younger, or the girls had not kept such a good eye on her, I would have been pretty worried. Most of the tunnels are dark, some of them pitch black. I did see some employees circling through the cave area with flashlights periodically checking corners, so that was reassuring.

Outside of the caves and tunnels, there are other rooms offering ramps for parkour, ropes for swinging, odd memorabilia to see...you can find a little bit of everything at City Museum.

One of the slides took you under the floor and popped out underneath the belly of the whale.

These 2 couldn't quite keep up with Grace...so they had their own fun!

So this tube is considered "big" so you can imagine Mark and I squeezing through!

The slide in the main foyer is 3 stories tall so it is enclosed in old conveyor belt rollers. It was fun to watch people roll them on their way down!

You truly never know what you might find at City Museum!

There was even an old replica of a train that they offered rides on for anyone under 48 inches! The girls had a blast, and I was told that even though it was a rainy day it wasn't too crazy in there. They can see up to 7,000 people a day at the museum during peak season and with it being open until 1am on Friday and Saturday nights its a fun place for adults as well!
