Kentucky Horse Park

This morning we woke up at treated ourselves to a fabulous continental breakfast and filled our bellies for a big day. We started off at the Kentucky Horse Park. This place is a beautiful oasis in the middle of Lexington with over 50 miles of white fences containing some of the most famous horses in North America. In addition to meeting the oldest Derby winner (Go for Gin), one of the greatest comeback racers (Da Hoss), and one of the richest pacers (Won the West), we also visited the final resting place of some of the most famous horses in the world including; Secretariat and Man-O-War. When burying a horse they bury the head, the heart, and the hooves and then cremate the rest of the body and spread it across the farm for a lucky foaling season. We also visited the kiddie barn where we learned all about measuring, grooming, and caring for a horse. Then we took a horse drawn trolley ride around the grounds pulled by Jayce and Connor, two beautiful Belgians, and learned more about the grounds. It was incredible to see the beauty of Kentucky.
So excited to meet the horses!

Learning all about Secretariat.
Plenty of white fence to view horses here.

Learning how to measure horses...1 hand to ever 4 inches.
Meeting Rowdy...the smallest pony on the farm.

Thanking Jayce and Connor for a great ride!

Learning how to shoe a horse at the Farrier.
