Sunday we spent the afternoon at church celebrating Emma's Agape meal to prepare for her First Communion. We "broke bread" with friends and celebrated her official introduction as a candidate.
Monday, as promised, Mark arrived at work with his "gift" waiting since he had won 'best story teller' award at his work party. His story involved a red solo cup, so his gift was quite fitting. For being engineers, some of them are really funny.
To kick off Catholic Schools Week, Friday night the girls headed to their Sock Hop! They both had high hopes of winning the hula hoop contest, but came in as runner up. They invited the preschool this year, so Norah was 'official' and lots of friends showed up, which made it tons of fun for her as well. If I get time this week, this definitely deserves its own post...they had a blast.
After the Sock Hop I headed to a "Favorite Things" party. This also deserves its own post. I'm hoping to host one of these in the near future though, so maybe I won't divulge too much! :) Basically everyone brings 5 of their favorite item and it's a great way to test out new things and learn more about your friends.
Saturday, Emma played ball at 8AM, (took a loss this week, but played hard) so it was a little rough after a late night at the Sock Hop, but she ran hard. Grace had a friend over as well, so that her parents could go to a middle school orientation, so the girls had a great morning of sledding and fun. Now we're gearing up and crossing our fingers for a little snow this week...bring on a snow day!
Saturday night, it was off to the daddy/daughter dance. The girls loved their corsages from daddy, danced the night away after a yummy dinner, and Grace was really excited to win the prize of the night - a huge Elsa made out of balloons! I may need to do a separate post for this special night as well!
Sunday morning we headed to church to "pack the balcony" at Mass. With great singing, reading, greeting, etc, it was fun to watch so many students take part in the Mass to kick off Catholic Schools Week. The girls really love these Masses and being at church with all of their friends.
We spent Sunday afternoon at the sledding hill! Since Mark and I were part of the group hosting it, we were really nervous that there wouldn't be any snow, but as luck would have it, the hill was perfect! Don't think sledding is just for kids though...I think the adults had more fun than anyone!

My friend Katie was telling me about attending a "Favorite Things" party. I think it was three things but the same idea. She did it with friends for Christmas. Definitely beats "Secret Santa".
