Christmas eve morning

Each year we put in a good word with the jolly guy in the red suit to visit our house a night early since we travel over Christmas. Lucky for us, he obliges each year as we're pretty sure that he's thankful to make a few less deliveries on Christmas eve. We woke up Christmas eve morning and sure enough, Santa had paid a visit. Our stockings had been filled, but the girls were a bit surprised as usually he leaves a gift under the tree for our family. We were starting to question if perhaps we made the naughty list this year. Then we spotted it...

Will had a special gift in his stocking. We opened the box to find a note that read, "Dear Richmonds, Though Hazel made the nice list this year, I'm not sure she can yet be trusted to not bark at my elves. I have put your gift in the basement to help keep her off the naughty list. Merry Christmas, Santa." We raced downstairs to see what Santa had left for us.

We were greeted by a huge tent in our basement! We always talk about how much fun it would be to go camping...now we can!

The girls immediately started planning out where we could venture with our new tent in tow.

After rolling around in the tent a bit, we headed upstairs for a little breakfast before we opened our gifts to each other. As excited as they were for their gifts, they are still far more excited to give their gifts out than to open their own. I love this about Christmas. There is nothing more joyful that giving the perfect gift to someone. We spent the morning playing games and then packed up to head south to celebrate with family.
