Week 2

It's induction day!!

So, we had a fabulous plan in place to induce today. God's plan was far more fabulous...what a great extra 2 weeks we've had to get to know Will on the outside. He has had an amazing week this week and we are constantly shocked by his healing, our love for him, and where on earth the last 2 weeks have gone. It has been a whirlwind of emotion at our house and there are so many things to be thankful for. So, for his two week update...a list of the things we gave thanks for this week.

1. Eyes. He has them. He opened them. They were beautiful. He's still a bit swollen from his birthday party, so hopefully once the swelling goes down we'll see a lot more of them.

2. The flood. Keep the girls home? Send them to school? God knew we needed a week as a family...so thankful He answered that prayer and made the decision for us. No school for a week!

3. Crying. Will cries. A LOT. It is a happy reminder that he is breathing. His apnea spells are becoming more frequent, but are lasting for a shorter duration, so we'll count that as a win.

4. Sunshine. After 2 weeks with the windows closed tight, yesterday we brought Will into the light. He squeezed his eyes tight and got a huge smile on his face. It was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. You could tell, though hypersensitive to the light, that he could feel the warmth of the sun on his face.

5. Fresh air. We took a field trip to the deck today. Being outside was good for both of us. Watch out world...we're headed to the mailbox tomorrow.

6. Family and friends. My entire family came last weekend to see Will. My mom dropped everything on Thursday to help out so Mark could go back to work. My sisters rearranged their entire weekend so they could stay with me while Mark and the girls enjoyed their annual daddy/daughter camp-out. Delicious meals are delivered to our door so we can enjoy our time with Will. Our cup overflows.

7. Healing. We switched to a different patch for Will's head and it is healing before our eyes. His lungs were clear at his last two hospice checks. He was born with a black foot that incredibly has regained circulation and is pink again. He has opened his fists and stretched out his fingers. He has seen our faces and turned toward our voices. His heart continues to beat. His lungs continue to breathe. Each day has been incredible.
